What's important to Matthew Richman?
Known for his perfect attendance all of high school, Matthew Xie Richman of Forest Hills rarely misses a Yankee game. Attending around 40 of their games a year, this 19 year old St. John’s student is passionate about all things to do with the world of sports.
Richman graduated from Queens Metropolitan High School and incorporated a multitude of sports into his life throughout those years, managing both the boys and girls volleyball teams, whilst playing baseball and pickup basketball simultaneously. Yet as a varsity baseball player his senior year of high school, it is clear what sport sparked it all.
“Baseball was always first, and introduced me to every sport. Growing up, my dad always had a yankee game on the TV.”
With this introduction to the sport from his dad, there is no denying that becoming a baseball and Yankees fan was inevitable for Richman.
Graduating high school, Richman knew it was time to stop playing himself yet leaving his own mit on first base did not mean the passion for baseball within him was gone. Richman takes advantage of all season ticket deals and especially recommends and loves the ticket prices when the forecast shows rain and they suddenly drop.
Even if that perfect attendance reputation was not planned, Michael Xie Richman has vowed to keep his streak up for the Yankees. No matter the circumstance, or the weather.
